4 O’Clock In The Morning
May 23rd, 2006 by Daniel
“4 O’Clock In The Morning” appears almost exclusively on file-sharing networks as a song by “DJ Ranking.” It is nothing more than the 1993 song “4AM” by Orca which has been renamed. “4AM” contains a vocal sample from Beverley Craven’s 1991 hit “Promise Me” which has been sped up to a higher pitch. This could explain why someone believed it was a DJ Rankin tune and mislabeled it.
As a side note, there is another tasty dance remix of “Promise Me” titled “4 O’Clock In The Morning” by Lazard. This remix contains Craven’s vocal at the original pitch.
“Promise Me” by Beverly Craven is available for purchase:

Lazard’s “4 O’Clock in the Morning” doesn’t appear to be available for purchase at this time.
(Thanks to RankinTruth for identifying this track.)
This song is purely Orca – 4AM, which is an early ‘rave’ song from around 1991 that sampled Beverly Craven. Nothing at all has been changed on it by DJ Rankin apart from the name.
